Microsoft has released the education edition of its blocky game Minecraft to Chromebooks in time so that students can return to school.

The Minecraft: Education Edition for Chromebook is out on Monday. It includes all the same features of the Windows and iPad versions, and also multiplayer across platforms, according to the company. The education-focused version of the game is designed to assist educators in teaching everything from science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to language, history and art. According to Microsoft the game has been licensed by thousands across 115 countries.

In addition to coming to Chromebooks, Microsoft said the most recent update to the game features new STEM lessons as well as "a special Minecraft world developed with the American Beekeeping Federation's Kids and Bees program."

Minecraft: Education Edition for Chromebook requires a Microsoft account to log in and play the game. It's licensed by schools via Microsoft 365 for Education -however, the company has said it's working on letting users login with a Google account as well. Citizensnpcs
