Over ten years after its release, a unique early version of Minecraft was believed to have disappeared. Minecraft alpha 1.1.1 was released for the original Java Edition in September 2010 and was accessible for a little over three hours, and now it's finally been found again by gaming archivists.

Over the years there have been hundreds upon hundreds of Minecraft versions. Fans have meticulously collected and archived many of them to ensure their preservation. MINECRAFT One version called Alpha 1.1.1, also known as Seecret Saturday was thought to be lost. It introduced fishing rods and sneaking to Minecraft. However, it was found to have a bug that caused the screen to go completely gray. Version 1.1.2 was released within hours.

@lunasorcery, through Kotaku and Kotaku, shared the entire story of its rediscovery on Twitter. Luna clarifies that Alpha 1.1.1 was a meme that was common or holy grail in Discord Omniarchive's Minecraft archiving Discord Omniarchive. None of them expected to discover it.

Someone came across one of Luna's old tweets and asked her about it. She finally discovered a backup of minecraft.jar which was created on the same date as Alpha 1.1.1's release on September 18, 2010. Luna confirmed that the file was Alpha 1.1.1 and posted about it on Omniarchive, which then went down.

So I posted in Omniarchive, and it would not be overstated for me to say that some people noticed.

The reactions are enough to make you realize how huge this find is. I literally begin shaking.
